Jammu, Nov 25: J&K Punjabi Sahit Sangam (JKPSS) has expressed concern over deletion of Punjabi language from school syllabus. According to press release, a meeting of JKPSS was held under the chairmanship of Raj Paul Singh Mustana at Digiana Jammu. In the meeting they discussed the problems of Punjabi Language in the state. RP Mustana said that before the patrician of state, Punjabi language from the first class was taught in the schools and up-to the university level as well. "Since long time this language is deleted from the school level where as it was a medium of instruction. This has effected on the hearts of Punjabi speakers.The AIR and Doordarshan Jammu has also cuted short time of this languages programme", they said. The J&K Construction has recognized the Punjabi language besides other eight languages. It was seriously felt that the Govt. has given the three language formula and Punjabi has been totally ignored from this act. In this meeting the public demanded that the Govt. rethink on the three language formula and include the Punjabi language in the status, as it was given earlier. Amrik Singh (Advocate), Dayal Singh (Advocate), Ichhpaul Singh also spoke on the occasion. |
