| Increasing train robberies raise hackles | | | Et Report
JAMMU, Nov 25: Increasing cases of theft in trains running from Jammu to Delhi or other places have been a cause of concern among the people especially those travelling by trains in routine. Two incidents have been reported in two Jammu bound trains in last three days in which two passengers were looted of their belongings including gold and cash in two separate trains creating panic among the people over the safety in trains. In a recent incident unidentified criminals looted gold jewellery and other items from a passenger on Ahmedabad -Jammu Tawi Sarvodya Express when he was travelling from Kota to Ambhalla cantt. An FIR was filed by the victim in Ambala Police that he found the lock of his suitcase broken and some jewellery and other items missing after he alighted from the train at Ambala. In the complaint Raj Kumar who belongs to Mahesh Nagar Ambala said that jewellery and gold worth Rs four lakh were missing from his suitcase. Prior to this a lady travelling to New Delhi on Friday was looted of her purse by the train robbers near Sonipat when the train stopped at a secluded place early in the morning. The lady resisted the misadventure of the robbers but was thrashed by the robbers who snatched her purse containing gold ornaments and cash and fled. |
