VC refuses to meet parents of fasting students
Fast enters 6th day, condition deteriorates

Jammu, Nov 25: Showing total adamancy, Vice Chancellor of Jammu University, today once again refused to meet parents of students, observing fast unto death strike for the last 6 days and their condition is worsening. Castigating the JU authorities especially Vice Chancellor, the parents said that the condition of their wards has worsened a lot, but Vice Chancellor plainly refused to meet us. "Is it a crime to seek permission for appearing in exams. Our wards are on deathbed, their condition is deteriorating but JU authorities are unmoved. If some untoward will happen with our wards, VC will be personally responsible for it", they said, adding that it seemed that there was no democracy in Jammu and Kashmir and appealed Governor NN Vohra to personally intervene in the matter. Meanwhile, Ravinder Goel, English Professor in Delhi University has also extended support to protesting students and said that if the academic session of students would be spoiled by JU authorities, he would take up the matter with UGC authorities at Delhi.
Later a delegation of Movement For Justice (MFJ) met Divisional Commissioner Shantmanu and appealed him for his personal intervention in the matte. After listening the demands, Divisional Commissioner assured the delegation that he would take up the matter with Vice Chancellor today. The physical condition of protesting students including MS Bhatti, Talib Hussain, Cathleen Kour and Marvi Slathia, who are on fast for the last six days is deteriorated and symptoms of jaundice are reported in two protesters.
The protesters asserted to continue their protest, till their demands will not be conceded by authorities. Their demands including establishment of Gojri and Pahari Research Center, revocation of rustication and suspension of students, revocation of FIR lodged against the protesters.
