Et Report Jammu, Nov 25: Inspector General Border Security Force, Jammu Frontier S S Tomar today said that the BSF will acquire land from atleast 22 villages to raise an embankment along the international border. "In co-operation with the state government, the land will be acquired from 122 villages along the border in Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts," Tomar told reporters at the sidelines of a function here this morning.He said that the project is in final stage and will begin soon. The IG said that the embankment is being raised to secure the people loving along the border and working close to the fence from falling victim to the firing from across the border at the time of tense situation. "The embankment will be 135 feet wide and 10 metre high," he added and said that the matter will also be discussed with their counterparts Pakistani Rangers. Meanwhile he said that an overall situation along 198 kilometre stretch of international border from Akhnoor to Kathua is normal and peaceful after October 29 flag meet. |
