| AMCCC asks Government of India to prepare comprehensive plan for return of KPs to valley | | | Jehangir Rashid
SRINAGAR, Dec 1: All Migrant Camps Coordination Committee (AMCCC) has impressed upon the Government of India to come out a with clear picture for the return of Kashmiri Pandits to the Kashmir valley saying that close door meeting with some 'hand-picked' Kashmiri Pandit leaders would not serve any purpose. Talking to Early Times, AMCCC President, Desh Ratan Pandita said that recent amendments announced by state government for the return of Kashmiri Pandits are not quite in tune with the ground situation. Pandita said the decision to rehabilitate Kashmiri Pandits in clusters at district headquarters would not serve any purpose since the necessary things are not in place in the villages. "Closed door meeting with some so called urban based Kashmiri Pandit leaders would not lead to desired results. The Kashmiri Pandits who used to live in villages have been worst sufferers and they continue to be tossed from one pillar to another. They have no agricultural land to till and the orchards have also been occupied," said AMCCC President.Pandita said that the present coalition government in the state led by Omar Abdullah failed to provide basic amenities to the Kashmiri Pandits putting up as migrants in different parts of Jammu. He accused Omar of going to New Delhi with a begging bowl as soon the government runs out of the funds."The recent amendments announced by the state government are not for the overall good of the Kashmiri Pandit community. This has been done to fill pockets of the people in power since they have run out of money. The state government has been exploiting the sentiments of Kashmiri Pandit community and it is going on still," said AMCCC President. Pandita said that AMCCC would launch an agitation both in the state and national capital against the exploitative politics being carried out against the Kashmiri Pandit community. He said agitation would be launched at Jantar Mantar adding that protests would also be carried at Parliament and state assembly. "Prime Minister's employment package for Kashmiri Pandits has not yielded desired results since jobs have been provided on partisan basis. While two to three members of a particular family have given jobs none of the jobs have been given to some families. This has to be corrected so that confidence is inculcated among Kashmiri Pandits for their return," said AMCCC President. Pandita said that around one lakh Kashmiri Pandit families have migrated from Kashmir and providing a single job to 6,000 such families is unlikely to give them boost to return to valley. He termed apex committee of Kashmiri Pandits as 'useless' organization consisting of senior citizens owing allegiance to National Conference and Congress. The AMCCC President said that a meeting of the Committee was held here in which R N Dhar, General Secretary, R L Sharma, Vice-President, K S Bedi, State Secretary and R N Pandita took part. |
