Jammu, Dec 1: Accusing successive rulers of Jammu and Kashmir of making it a destitute state, Narendra Modi asserted that instead of raising demand of separate state, the focus should be on making J&K a super state. "Atal Bihari Vajpayee had seen a dream of making J&K a super state. Himalayan region is full of herbs. There is huge demand of herbal medicines across world and presently China is making huge profit by selling herbal medicines. If research work is undertaken on herbal medicines in J&K state universities, state youth can be given employment in this sector and state can make huge progress", Modi averred. Criticizing Union government for not encouraging tourism in state, Modi claimed that tourism potential of J&K has shrunk a lot. "Inspite of fact that J&K has vast potential for shooting of movies but owing to wrong policies of Union government, the Bollywood has also left J&K", he said, and added that if functions were organized by government in Jammu and Kashmir on 100 year celebrations of India cinema, new avenues would have been created. He further said that if a film institute was instituted in Kashmir valley, same would help in development of state, alleging that state government had no interest in development of state. "The tourists for annual Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage are increasing and Nepal is earning profit from same. If the route of Ladakh was opened, the region will be developed", he said, questioning why IIT, IIM could not be opened in J&K. Earlier, while criticizing Union government for its failure to save Sarabjit Singh's life, Narender Modi said that a week before killing of Sarabjit Singh, a tragic incident had happened in the same jail in Pakistan, when Chamel Singh was murdered. "If government had taken action after killing of Chamel Singh, atleast Sarabjit's life would have been saved", Modi said, alleging that Union government was in deep slumber and would not awake even if 125 Crores population would raise voice and it seemed that same would not awake even in 2014 elections. "Is there any government, which can continue in slumber despite the killings of its jawans at the border?", he questioned. He also appreciated the efforts of Maharaja Hari Singh, Shayama Parsad Mukherjee, Pandit Prem Nath Dogra, Brigadiar Rajinder Singh, Maqbool Sherwani and the people of entire Jammu and Kashmir. |
