| Less than 50 percent polling recorded in KCCI elections | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Dec 1: Less than half of the members of Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCC&I) voted to elect the new executive committee the elections for which were held at the chamber office on Saturday. In a statement, KCC&I General Secretary, Mushtaq Ahmad Wani said that voting to elect the 19 member executive committee of KCC&I started in the morning at 11:00 AM and concluded at 5 in the evening on Saturday. Mushtaq said that out of the total number of 1004 votes, 469 votes were polled. He said the overall voting percentage was recorded as 46.81 percent. "Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry had made adequate arrangements of security to ensure smooth conduct of polls. The elections were conducted in a democratic way according to the Articles of Association of KCC&I," said KCC&I General Secretary. He said as per constitution of KCC&I had set up a Polling Sub-Committee to conduct the election process. Mushtaq said that two scrutinizers, Director Indian Institute of Carpet Technology (IICT) and representative of Jammu & Kashmir Bank were present during the elections with both of them completing their assignment satisfactorily. |
