| Protest over grave yard land, 2 injured | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 6: Two locals including a minor have sustained minor injuries today morning when a clash broke out between members of Muslims Social Welfare Association (MSA), Satwari and government officials over 200 kanals land along the canal in Satwari. Sources said that the protest erupted as the Irrigation department started construction work for the office of water resources over the said land which was claimed as ancestors land by members of Muslims Social Welfare Association (MSA). "Members of MSA claimed that 200 kanal was property of their ancestors and different government departments especially Irrigation department is encroaching the land", alleged MSA members. "Over 150 activists of MSA assembled here on land and allegedly started stone pelting on the labourers and officials of Public Health Engineering (PHE) who were monitoring the construction work of the concerned department" said a source. However, police said that officials of Irrigation department are claiming that they have proper permissions from the concerned department. After getting the information, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) along with Station House Officer (SHO) Satwari, Inspector Arvind Sambyal reached the spot and pacified the protestors. They assured that the necessary measures would be taken sort out the issue after their assurance, protestors. SHO Satwari, Inspector Arvind Sambyal said that the investigation in this regard is on. |
