JAMMU, Dec 6: Reiterating Bharatiya Janta Party's (BJP) resolve to repeal Article 370, the BJP Member of Parliament and national spokesperson Tarun Vijay said today that as and when party comes to power at Centre on its own Article 370 will definitely be revoked.
"If elected to power at Centre, revoking Article 370 will be BJP's top most agenda," Tarun Vijay asserted while addressing a press conference at party headquarters here today.
"Article 370 is a conspiracy to make the state of Jammu & Kashmir poorer… It deprived the people of Jammu & Kashmir of the opportunities of employment and industrialization…. Instead of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) it has led to Terrorism Direct Investment (TDI)," he added.
While welcoming Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's statement that he was ready to join the debate on Article 370, Vijay said by advocating a discussion on the subject Omar has indirectly vindicated the stand of BJP that Dr Shyama Prasad Mookherjee's views on Article 370 were right while that of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru were wrong.
Citing 'unconstructiveness and negativity of the Article 370, Tarun Vijay said, "Because of Article 370 there has been no investment from other states and foreign countries as a result of which the youth of Jammu and Kashmir are compelled to leave the state in search of employment and livelihood in other parts of the country and abroad."
"Article 370 has turned Kashmir into a valley of subsidy and it has locked the future of the youth of J&K which has contributed to large scale frustration among them," Vijay said.
BJP-MP also pointed out that Article 370 was responsible for discouraging corporate hospital chains like Medanta, Fortis, Max from opening their hospitals in the state including Kashmir valley. "Due to this, a large number of patients from the state were forced to go to Delhi or Chandigarh for treatment, he added.
National spokesperson of party said that separatism and anti-national tendencies have been encouraged by the present regime led by Omar Abdullah who must answer what contribution he had made to strengthen the integrity of state and its relations with the rest of India. He also referred to Kashmiri Pandit displaced community which was direct victim of terrorism and extended full support of BJP to them.
BJP National Executive Member State chief spokesperson Dr. Jitendra Singh, State General Secretaries Kavinder Gupta and Bali Bhagat along with State Treasurer Chander Mohan Gupta were also present at the press conference.
