| ‘Fulfil our demands or we leave’ | | Migrants rue homecoming | | ET Report Srinagar, Dec 6: For them the homecoming has not been comfortable. The indifference of the government has forced the Pandits to return to their adapted homes. They have threatened to move back. Breaking the militancy jinx, migrant Pandits started to come back to the Valley after government promised them security and a comfortable stay. But inadequate accommodation and lack of basic facilities in the quarters at Devsar Kulgam and Sheikhpora Budgam have irked them so much so that they have decided to move out of the Valley. Some of them told Early Times that the accommodation offered to them at the above mentioned places was worse than migrant camps of Jammu. The government started building flats in Kashmir for those who wanted to return to the Valley. The Omar led government recently gave nod to Prime Minister's package for the migrants. Those who have sold their property will get Rs 20 lakhs. The package is most likely to go into rough weather following the threat issued by the migrants. The Relief Commissioner, RK Pandita said the accommodation issues of pandits would be resolved soon. He said the government was working to make the accommodation better. |
