| Will leadership be able to translate it into political gain...? | | Riding high on Modi wave, BJP in 'thanks giving mode' | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 6: Euphoric over the grand success of Lalkar rally on December 1 in terms of massive numbers in which people participated , state unit of BJP in a first of its moves, is in gratitude expressing mode, one of the bodies at the mandal level having begun it formally with a proper thanks giving message to masses for their contribution in making it a truly show of strength. The gesture is appreciable more importantly for those who despite facing restrictions of all sorts on the context of security, could not manage a smooth entry inside the jampacked stadium for one or the other reason. The party is also upbeat over the way Narender Modi comment on Article 370 has created unrest in NC camp and left Congress unnerved to a great extent. The moot and most important question, howeevr, remains will the state unit of party be able to translate the success of this rally into political gains for which it was aimed...? There is no denying the fact that it was a huge, rather massive and unprecedented number of people who made it to MA Stadium for listening to BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate, no matter he is himself a natural crowd puller. Nevertheless, party leadership in the state would take credits for managing each and every aspect of the rally, including that for drawing more and more people from their respective areas and constituencies across the region. However, the hardwork put in by cadres and some functionaries for over two weeks cannot either be overlooked. There is also no exaggeartion in the fact that many people who had come from far ends could not seat themselves comfortably inside the stadium which remained packed to minutest space and listened to the Modi speech while standing outside. Therefore, in that sense it becomes all the more obligatory for the party leaders and functionaries to express gratitude to the people many of whom came voluntarily. Six days on, however, the party is only in celebratory mood and in a way getting complacent for the actual purpose and objective for which the rally was meant to be held. Lalkar rally with party's charsimatic leader Narender Modi as the star attarction was held in Jammu to set the momentum for the Parliamentary elections to be held early next year. While the statements are yet emerging only to react or retaliate what NC and Congress said on Modi's comments. The leadership is neitehr focussing on activities which are required the set the tone and momentum for preparations nor scheduling political programmes in run up to the elections, something which other parties have already begun. With so many contenders in race for getting ticket for LS polls, doing so may take more time as this has to be decided by the central leadership but if the party is riding high on Modi wave, it has to act and act fast in translating it into political gains. |
