| Rajouri people decry poor BSNL connectivity, allege nexus of BSNL, Pvt Players | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Rajouri, Dec 9 : Alleging nexus of BSNL officials with some private players providing cellular services in border district, the BSNL subscribers in Rajouri have rued poor connectivity in the border district saying that the BSNL services have deteriorated in these twin border districts with each passing day. The locals also alleged that concerned officers have never bothered to improve the services at the same time they alleged BSNL authorities deliberately are disturbing the services of BSNL to give advantage to private players providing cellular connectivity. Most of the BSNL subscribers preferred to have another SIM from a private cellular service provider as these companies are providing uninterrupted internet and mobile connectivity on their networks. Keeping in view the poor connectivity of BSNL, the people, senior administrative officials in civil, police, other departments including officials at army deployments are looking an alternative connection to avoid their senior fury in case they are not available on their BSNL phone. On October,30 and December,3 the banks failed to function in their usual banking due to failure as internet service following BSNL broadband failed for hours together, some local from Rajouri lamented . They recalled many of rural folk who had came from far-flung areas to withdraw money in this marriage season and emergencies forced to go home empty handed as the broad band service Of BSNL was non-functional, another bemoaned. Rakesh Kumar a business man from Kotranka (Bakori) said when people in capital towns are getting fast track of information and technology and centre is spending huge amount on IT services ironically the BSNL has failed to provide better connectivity in the remote areas. He added barring BSNL, all other private players the field are providing uninterrupted services even in remotest areas including Kotranka and Budhal. Referring to poor connectivity, Shahbaz Khan executive chairman, JK Pahari People Movement (JKPPM) quipped BSNL should be renamed as "Bhai Sahib Nanhi Chalte. He however alleged some moles in BSNL employees are hand in gloves with private companies and deliberately disrupt the BSNL services on monetary considerations. Ashwani Kumar, social activist alleged that half of the BSNL towers remain switched off as the officials looking after them mostly sell the fuel in black market and don't operate generators to run the towers hampering connectivity. AK Sexena, TDE Rajouri however meekly defended that BSNL services including broadband, internet, prepaid, post paid etc operate through Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) system and in some areas along highway from Jammu to Rajouri different agencies including GREF have undertaken projects of road widening which cause damage to OFC resulting in failure of BSNL services.' TDE Sexena said that as for as Budhal circuit is concerned the department has tried its best to maintain it but after every hour the OFC cable get damaged due to road widening. When asked about selling of fuel and some BSNL officials having hands in glove with private players, TDE Sexena, said, "I am not aware of this practice , if found correct action will be taken against those involved in such practices." Pertinent to mention here that the Accounts Department of TDE Office at Rajouri has reportedly received some bills carrying the same quantity of diesel used to operate the generators for two hours and for about 6-8 hours which raises a finger of suspicion in this regard. When contacted officiating Chief General Manager (CGM) BSNL Wadhva expressed his ignorance over the poor services in Rajouri district .however at the same time he assured to take up the matter with Telephone District Engineer (TDE) immediately. |
