| LC panel summons General VK Singh on January 9 | | | Bashir Assad SRINAGAR, Dec 9: The J&K Legislative Council panel (Privilege Committee) Monday issued summons to the former Army Chief General VK Singh asking him to appear before the panel in person on January 9, 2014 for his payoff revelations against J&K Ministers and politicians. . The privilege committee headed by Congress legislator, Jugal Kishore met here today in the council secretariat and decided to summon General Singh on January 9, 2014 for his remarks against J&K politicians. "General VK Singh has attacked the authority of the J&K legislature which has been prima facie established by his statements in press. He has put our credibility at stake. He has damaged the interests of our country internationally. We should not let him go," said Ghulam Nabi Monga, Congress MLC and member of the privilege committee. He said all members of the committee were in agreement that general VK Singh should be brought to the house and asked questions about his revelations. It merits a mention here that ruling National Conference legislators from both the houses had moved two privilege motions against General VK Singh for his payoff remarks. The Speaker J&K Legislative assembly had earlier issued notice to Singh to what the latter has already replied in black and white. The motion moved in the council was referred to privilege committee by the Chairman Council, Amrit Malhotra. The Committee met here today and decided to serve notice to General Singh asking him to appear before the committee on January 9 The members of the committee who were present in the meeting include Jugal Kishore, G N Monga, Ravinder Sharma, Devinder Rana Shawkat Ahmad, Ali Mohammad Dar. Secretary Legislative Council, Mohammad Ashraf Mir and Deputy secretary Council, Ishfaq Hussain were also present in the meeting. |
