Indo-Pak friendship best in the interest of people: Altaf

Jammu, Dec 9: Terming ceasefire a good gesture, the Minister for Forests Mian Altaf today said that friendly Indo-Pak relations are in the best interest of the people of the state.
"Friendly Indo-Pak relations are in the best interest of the people of the state," he said while addressing at a public gathering at Madla, a border village in Poonch district today.
People living near borders benefitted most from it, whereas they were the first ones to become victims when guns toot, he said. Talking about the development initiatives, Altaf said that they were yielding results at ground level.
"Health, PHE, R&B, Education are getting extraordinary attention, particularly in rural, hilly and border areas," he said.
The Minister said that Rs 81 lakh have been earmarked for infrastructure development in forest sector in Poonch district against which Rs 57 lakh stands expended so far.
He said an inspection hut would be constructed at Madla to ensure effective monitoring of forest activities.
