| Youth alleges cheating under 'Hunar Se Rozgar Tak' policy | | | Srinagar, Dec 13: Scores of skilled youth who were provided training and citations under Hunar Se Rozgar Tak alleged that despite assurances given by the Tourism Department, no stipend was given to them.
The youth alleged that funds acquired by Tourism Department under this scheme from Central Government have gone to the coffers of higher officials while the students were not even provided a penny.
As per the scheme, a trainee with a minimum attendance of 90% was supposed to pay lump sum stipend of Rs.1,500 in respect of Food and Beverage course and Rs.2,000 in respect of Food Production course. The stipend was to pay in two equal installments, first one in the middle of the Programme and the other at its conclusion. However, the trainees alleged that no stipend was paid to them while contrary top brass of Tourism Department humiliated them after they raise the issue. The trainees told they were admitted in a Centre located at Parrey pora Srinagar and after the completion of courses the trainees were awarded only certificates.
"Our attendance was 100 per cent and yet we were deprived from the stipend," a trainee Rayees Ahmed from Chanapora told CNS appealing the government to probe the matter thoroughly.
Director Tourism, Talat Parvez said that these trainees will get stipend once funds are released by Central Government. "We are waiting for the clearances from Finance and Planning departments. Once the process is completed, trainees will get stipend," he said. |
