| Rise of AAP not to have any impact on 'state politics' | | | early times report Jammu, Dec 13 : Though the apex body of Panchs and sarpanchs has announced to support the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate in the next Assembly election the valley continues to be cool to the AAP. Initially Chief of All Party Hurriyat Conference, Molvi Umar Farooq, had appreciated the birth of AAP in the election in Delhi state but that euphoria is gone. Inside reports said that initially some of the separatist groups were informed that one of the key figures in AAP, Prashant Bhushan, had supported right of self-determination and that could have been the reason for their support to the AAP. Later they have started maintaining silence on the rise of the AAP in the political spectrum when they came to know that Bhushan had retracted later. Of late even the Chief of JKLF, Mohd Yasin Malik has said that the win of the AAP in the Delhi Assembly election was irrelevant to the Kashmir issue. He has said that birth of the AAP will have no impact on the resolution of the Kashmir issue. Hence the support given to the AAP by Panchs and sarpanchs may have no meaning in the Kashmir valley. Reports said that an apex body of panches and sarpanches of the state today said it would support groups like the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the forthcoming Assembly election in Jammu and Kashmir. "We are highly impressed with the way the AAP performed in Delhi election. If there are groups like AAP, who will contest polls in the state, we will support them," provincial president, All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC), Bashir Ahmed Malik told reporters here on the other day. Malik, however, said in the absence of any such party, the organisation will decide upon whom to support in the elections. "If we do not have such choices of candidates, the executive committee of the body will decide whom we shall support," he said. Meanwhile another report said that groups of youth in the Jammu region were preparing for setting up a unit of the AAP in the region depending on the support and signal from Arvind Kejriwal. |
