| JMC conducts drive against 'use of polythene, COTPA violators' | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 13: A team of Health & Sanitation Wing of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) under the supervision of Dr Vinod Sharma Health Officer of the corporation conducted drive against use of polythene and vendors who are violating the COTPA norms. According to the JMC spokesperson, the team led by Health Officer conducted surprise visit to Town Hall area, Prem Nagar, Jogi Gate and other parts Jammu City for checking banned items polythene bags and during the drive team seized 5 Kg polythene from 12 defaulters and imposed fine upto the tune of Rs 5000/-(including Smoking). "During the round citizens were advised not to smoke in the public places as it is injurious to health 9 persons were booked under COTP Act 2003 and fined Rs. 1500 under section 4, 6(a), & 5 of COTP Act 2003, he added. Meanwhile a meeting was held with the Suppliers of Food Articles in various departments in the office chamber of health officer in which about 50 suppliers participated. The traders were directed to fulfill all requisite formalities in respect of Food Licenses before coming Feb 4 and also were directed to supply hygienic and good food items. |
