Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 13: Chairman of Inter Media Publicity Coordination Committee (IMPCC) Obaidur Rahman said that in view of Right to Information (RTI) Act, all the official media units have the obligation to keep common people informed about the updated information on all government programmes and welfare schemes.
Chairing the IMPCC meeting at the Conference Hall of Doordarshan Kendra Jammu, Rahman, who is Additional Director General, PIB Srinagar, said that the IMPCC has identified the Right to Franchise as a focused publicity theme for all the media units of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
He said that the recently concluded assembly elections in five states are an example that has witnessed unprecedented number of voters exercising their right to vote. He also attributed the increase in the polling percentage to the various dynamic measures taken by the Election Commission of India that were vigorously publicized by the media units. Right to Vote is the mother of all rights of the citizens of India who are the real saviours of democracy in the country, he added.
The Chairman further emphasized the need to highlight the salient features and provisions of the Right to Education (RTE) which is likely to be implemented in J&K state very soon.
Rahman asked PIB Jammu to focus on J&K specific schemes of Government of India like UMEED, UDAAN and HIMAYAT. He also laid emphasis to collect success stories during the forthcoming Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaigns so as to strengthen the public confidence in the implementation of the schemes on ground.
