| Four held, 50 animals rescued | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 13: Police foiled a bovine smuggling bid with the arrest of four bovine smugglers here on Friday besides rescuing 50 animals being smuggled to Srinagar in three vehicles during a special naka at 4th Tawi Bridge, police said "Based on information that bovine smuggling is in progress through fourth bridge of river Tawi, SSP Jammu Attul Goel directed Nowabad police to hold a special naka on the very route, police reports said. According to police complying to SSP's order, the SHO Nowabad Jai Paul Sharma and Incharge Police Post Canal Road Mohd Hilal Azhar laid a naka during the intervening night of Thursday/Friday and intercepted three trucks JK02X-1697; JK02AA-2717 and JK02W-5171. "During questioning the occupants in trucks failed to give satisfactory replies about the trucks loaded with animals further making police suspicious, police said and added, "four smugglers identified namely as Kalaam Din s/o Mohd Safi of Kherian Tallab Tillo, Mustfa s/o Babu Choudary of Jagti, Nagrota, Liaqat Ali s/o Mohd Safi of Talab Tillo Camp and Shokat Ali s/o Mohd Qasim of Kheri were arrested on the spot." They were booked under relevant section by police while vehicles used for smuggling purpose were seized. |
