| Semis line-up drawn in Sher-e-Kashmir Gold Cup | | | Sports Report
JAMMU, Dec 13: Semifinals position has been cleared with J&K Bank making it a 3-0 win against fighting Churchill Brothers in the ongoing 4th Sher-e-Kashmir Gold Cup Football Tournament at GGM Science College ground, here today. Held goalless in the first half by the local club, J&K Bank played like champions after the breather and dominated the opponent in rest of the play. One of the two Nigerians playing for the professional side of J&K Bank, Ezikol Sunday netted the first goal in the 46th minute. Soon after taking lead, J&K Bank made numerous goal attempts but could not succeed in beating the guard at the net. It was in the 73rd minute that Bank improved their lead with Prem Kumar scoring the goal. In the very next move, Bank netted the third goal through Exikol Sunday. The J&K Bank were playing with two foreigners and one player from neighbouring Punjab. While Exikol Sunday was taking care of the attack, Daniel Azi was part of the strong defence line. Now, in the semifinals, yet to be scheduled by the organising committee, J&K Bank shall be playing against arch rivals J&K Forest while J&K Power Development Corporation (JKPDC) shall compete against a local club of Young Rovers. Earlier, a big crowd turned up the venue to support and cheer for the local side of Churchill Brothers. Though Churchill Brothers could not win, yet they played up to the expectations of their fans. |
