JAMMU, Dec 20: Except for men's Sabre team, which has made it to the final, J&K could not do well in remaining five events of men and women in the ongoing 24th Senior National Fencing Championship at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here today. In men's Sabre team event, J&K shall be playing against Services (SSCB) on December 22. However, in other men's events of Epee and Foil, J&K could find any place. Same was the case with women teams, who, except for a seventh place in Foil, failed in their attempts to finish among first eight in rest of the three events. Earlier, Manipur emerged winner in men's and women's Foil team events beating SSCB and Kerela respectively. In men's Foil, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh shared third place while in women's Foil, Assam and Tamil Nadu were joint third. In women's Sabre event, Kerala clinched the gold beating Punjab while Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu shared third position. Meanwhile, in individual competition, Sanjeev Suri has cleared the initial hurdle of league round to reach pre-quarterfinals stages in Epee. Earlier, Shivani Hans and Priya Khajuria lost to their opponents in the quarterfinals of Sabre individual event. |
