| Class XII student takes police, security agencies of 3 districts to ride | | Abduction drama | | K Koushal Jammu, Dec 20: In a wacky and weird alleged 'abduction by unknown' the Police and other security agencies of three districts were taken for ride for more than 24 hours by a 'cock and bull story' smartly webbed by a student of 12th class who brainchild story of his own kidnapping by militants just to evade his pre-board examinations in Billawar of Kathua district. A case u/s 505 stands registered against the said student. Police sources said, a student namely Ganesh Singh s/o Hans Raj of Uppar Rajwalta in Ramkote in Kathua district on December 19, reported Sumb Police that he was abducted by two unidentified armed persons attired in Army fatigue. Police sources further said that the said student while narrating his concocted story claimed that the abductors asked him to take them to Army Camp in the area to make the police believe it as a terror related incident. 'Through his trumped-up story, he kept us away from the main inhabitations or the small helmets in the area on the pretext that he had no knowledge of Army Camp in the area," police said. "Later, the group took him to Cho Nallah ( a local seasonal rivulet) and thereafter they took him towards Majalta forest area where they took shelter in two huts of nomads," police sources added while quoting Ganesh. He (Ganesh) further claimed that this was the place from where he somehow managed to escape and reached at the house of his uncle Chain Singh in Sumb. When contacted, Superintendent of Police (SP), Mohan Lal said "After getting the information alert was sounded in all the nearby three districts i.e Kathua, Samba and Udhampur and other intelligence agencies, Army and Border Security Force (BSF) too were alerted to tackle any eventuality related to terror. He added, "all agencies pulled up their socks and got involved in the job but all attempts turned futile to trace any terror suspect". However, getting some suspicion over the story narrated by student, SP Kathua, Mohan Lal and other senior police officers took the youth to the spot from where he claimed to be abducted by the unknown kidnappers. "During sustained questioning on the spot where the youth claimed the kidnappers took shelter, he failed to give satisfactory reply to police queries and later spilled the beans while confessing that he had framed a kidnapping drama as he failed to perform well in two of the exams of pre-board examinations," said a senior police officer, adding that he (student) webbed a imaginary story of kidnapping just to save himself from family scolding for his poor performance in pre board examinations. S P Kathua, Mohan Lal said taking cognizance in this regard a case bearing FIR no. 117/13 under section 505 of RPC has been registered against the said student at Police Station Billawar while further investigation is on in the matter. |
