Samba, Dec 20: Four day long Sports cum Athletics Meet today commenced at Humanity Public School (Bassi Kalan, Bari Brahmana, Samba) in which large number of students participated in inaugural ceremony.
At the onset of occasion, Jaipal Singh (Incharge Officer, JKBOSE, Vijaypur Branch) who was the Chief Guest on inaugural ceremony declared the sports meet open by lighting the traditional lamp in presence of Gaurav Charak (Principal), Anku Charak (V. Principal), Akashdeep Raina (Incharge) and Nitin Jamwal.
In his inaugural speech the Chief Guest highlighted the importance of games and sports in students' life and lauded the school administration for organizing this sporting events to hone students extra-curricular activities.
The main attractions of the First day were Sack Race, Tug of War, Balloon Bursting, Spoon Marble Race, Shoes and Socks race, Banana Eating and Coin Picking.
The winners of Sack Races were Hemant, Lakshman, Koushal and Amit of Akash house. In Tug of war winners of first semi-final were Agni House (Boys) and Agni House (Girls). In second semi-final the winners were Trishool House (Boys) and Prithvi House (Girls). In Spoon Marble Races Anjali of Agni, Sakshi of Agni, Preety of Trishool and Anshu of (Trishool) bagged First Position in their respective heats. In shoes and socks race the winners were Ramu of Prithvi House and Ejaz of Prithvi House, Raghuvansh of Agni House and Dhruv of Prithvi House. In banana eating the winners were Suraj, Chunmun, Chandrapratap and Danish. In coin picking the winners were Nakul of Akash House, Ramu of Prithvi House, Rahul of Akash House and Sahil of Trishool House.
Sports Incharge Ajay Kumar, Jagdeep Singh (PTI) and Sandeep Zutshi coordinated actively to make the smooth functioning of events.
