Int'l Human Solidarity Day observed at Lawrence School 12/20/2013 9:30:07 PM Jammu, Dec 20: A special assembly was conducted in Lawrence Public School to mark the International Human Solidarity Day in which students and teaching faculty of school participated enthusiastically. During the assembly students were informed about the significance of this day and were apprised about that in 2005, the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) identified Solidarity as one of the fundamental values that should underlie international relations in the 21st century. "As a result, 20 December was proclaimed International Human Solidarity Day, speakers said. Students were also told that the aim is to remind governments of their commitment to eradicating poverty, promoting social development & diversity. "The observance of day is also aimed to guarantee inclusive development without the barriers of ethnicity, caste, creed and religion and wishes to eradicate poverty, to help those who suffer from environmental or manmade disasters and to promote education for all.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
