JAMMU, Dec 20: A two days Red Cross Mela organized by NSS and Red Cross Units of Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar began here today.
Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Shantmanu, who was Chief Guest on the occasion along with Anil Padha, Hony. Secretary, Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu, Om Parkash Vidyarathi, Chief Conservator of Forests - Ecotourism, Jammu, Principal of College, Dr Kiran Bakshi and Dr Ashaq Malik, Incharge, Red Cross Unit of College, inaugurated the Mela. In her welcome address, Dr. Kiran Bakshi, formally lauded the cause of Red Cross and asked the youth and students to actively participate in humanitarian cause besides their formal education.
While addressing the students, Shantmanu appreciated the efforts of college to support the cause of Red Cross and offered his full co-operation to organize such pertinent events for the welfare of society at large. A cultural programme was presented by the students of the college and artists of the Information Department, Jammu on the occasion. Variety of stalls, traditional food items, Jewellery, cosmetics, Handicrafts, Games, various rides, Musical Bonanza etc. are the main attractions of mela. |
