| Training programme on Wheat Production held under NFSM | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Dec 20 : A training programme on "wheat production" under National Food Security Mission (NFSM) was organized in village Dhanore of Sub- Division Dalayachak for farmers to familiarize them with the latest techniques besides up gradation of the skill in increasing production. Speaking on the occasion Dr M P Gupta, State Consultant highlighted that wheat is a major Rabi crop and is grown in an area of 254.7 thousand hectares in J&K State out of which249 thousand hectares alone is grown in Jammu Division. "During the year 2012-13, an outlay of Rs 14.17 Cr was made under NFFSM for promotion of wheat production through organization of cluster demonstrations, season trainings & supply of critical inputs to farmers, he said. He also apprised that it is planned to cover 3000 ha area under cluster demonstration in Kathua District besides a physical target of 100 season trainings has been fixed in respect of the district. On this occasion, demonstration on seed treatment through rotator seed drum was also given to show proper & uniform coating /treatment of seed. Scientist of KVK, CAO,. SDAO, AEO and extension officers of Agriculture Department discussed recommended cultivation practices & gave tips for obtaining bumper crop yield. Selective Herbicide was distributed free of cost to the participating farmers for Control of Grasses in Wheat Crops. In the end, Surishta Devi, SDAO, Dayalachak presented vote of thanks. |
