| AJKPC refuses to succumb to LeT threats | | 'Govt will be responsible for any attack on us' | | | Jammu, Dec 20: A day after militant outfit Lashkar Toiba threatened village representatives and supporter of political parties of dire consequences in case they did not resign, All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC) Friday refused to 'succumb to any pressure or diktat of militants whatever be the consequences.' Describing the latest threat of Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) to the Panchayat members of the state a cowardice act, Chairman AJKPC, Shafiq Mir said such acts and activities of militants will never weaken their resolve and stand for democracy and such acts will expose them before world that how they were carrying attacks on unarmed people."I appeal to all the panchayat members of the state not to resign under any pressure," he said.Mir castigated State and Central Government for failing to provide security to village representatives. He said that if any attack is carried out on any panchayat member of the state the government of Jammu and Kashmir will be responsible . "We have already lost our six Panchayat mebers and scores got injured in various such attacks but government has not taken any step to save the Panchayat members of the state", said Mir |
