| Protest of PDD casual labourers enters day 20 | | | Early Times Reports
Jammu, Dec 20 : The strike/dharna of casual labourers, employees of Power Development Department (PDD) under the banner of All J&K Casual Labourers Union in support of theirdemands outside office of Chief Engineer Jammu entered 20th day, today. The members of union said that they were promised by Chief Secretary of J&K in the month of April 2013 that the pending wages of release of Rs 6.50 crores funds in favour of need based/casual labourers has been sanctioned by the government but nothing has been done so far, adding that now they are left with no option other than to go onr strike/agitation for the fulfillment of their basic required demands. They further said that till the year 75 casual labourers lost their lives during the public service without any pay while 150 of casual labourers are those who became handicapped for life long during public services without any compensation. Among others present at the venue of dharna included Akhil Sharma, Shesh Kumar, Sham Lal, Mohinder Paul Sharma, Sanjeev Kumar and Moti Ram. |
