| Suspecting infiltration army opens fire in Gulmarg | | | Et Report Srinagar, Dec 20: Army on Thursday opened fire at Bota Pathri area along the line of control (LoC) in Gulmarg sector of north Kashmir's Baramulla district after observing suspicious movement of about three persons. Official sources told Global News Service that army's 14 Raj Rifles manning the LoC in the upper reaches of Gulmarg fired several shots after they observed movement of three suspicious persons in the desolate Bota Pathri area on Thursday evening. Though it was not clear if the suspicious persons were militants or civilians, the army on Friday started search operations after spotting the footprints in the area. Sources said that additional reinforcements of 2 RR from Srinagar outskirt's also assisted the Raj Rifles in conducting the searches. "Army had apprehensions that some militants have sneaked into the Valley. On this basis, searches were conducted throughout the day. However, the search operation is still going on in the area," sources added. |
