Early Times Report

JAMMU, Jan 5 : Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Abdul Rahim Rather has asked the banking Institutions particularly J&K Bank to redouble lending support to Micro and Small enterprises sector as it holds great promise for unfolding a large employment potential, particularly for the educated unemployed youth of the State. He also asked the Banks to complete 100% coverage with regard to distribution of Kissan Credit cards (KCC) in the state positively before ending the current financial year.
Speaking at the concluding functioning of the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of the Jammu and Kashmir Bank Limited at Jammu, Rather while appreciating the Bank for its outstanding performance in various fields of activities as compared to other Banking Institution functioning in the State, asked the J&K Bank that share of Micro and small enterprises sector in the total advances of the commercial banks continues to be on the decline, though its share within the priority sector advances is marginally improving. Rather lauded the J&K Bank for its achievements in providing quantitative as well as qualitative leadership to the banking Industry in the entire state and in most of the areas of its operations, be it in the shape of deposit mobilization, expansion of the banking area network and widening of its Credit base through its numerous ingeniously designed " Products" to suit the needs of various groups. He said the Jammu and Kashmir Bank is also performing a leading role in the opening of Financial Literacy Centres and holding of Financial Literacy camps in all the lead districts allotted to it adding that its contribution in making the R-SETIs and a large number of the Khidmat Centres functional in a record time is highly laudable. Rather said again the J&K Bank has to play a leading role in rolling out Electronic Benefit Transfer which is a revolutionary concept in e-governance adding that MOU between the government and the J&K Bank has already been signed in this regard.
