| Why Omar Govt didn't celebrate its anniversary? | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 5: Why did Omar Abdullah government shy away from celebrating the five years in office despite knowing that he may not get another opportunity to celebrate such an achievement. Completing five years is not great achievement. In other states, governments are formed for five years but in Jammu and Kashmir the tenure is for six years. According to sources, the chief minister doesn't want to be in any kind of odd position where he will have to answer the queries related to alliance with Congress party as his close aid Devender Singh Rana, who is also the National Conference provincial president for Jammu province, has already made a statement that NC has kept alliance options open. Sources said that spin doctors of Omar Abdullah has given him the suggestions that it is in the best interest of NC to go alone in the elections as they can get more seats from Jammu region and could capitalize in valley as well. That is why Omar decided to keep a distance from media and ministers so that no one is hurt as well as no question fired upon him on future tactics. But today it never looked like that Omar government has completed five years in the office. If the Jammu and Kashmir Bank could hold celebrations on 75th anniversary and spend crores of rupees, the government could have also celebrated its successful stay in the office. Sources further said that it is due to Congress pressure on Omar that government decided to skip the event which till last year used to be a high key affair.
