Rajouri, Jan 15: It may sounds shocking but a fact that traditional pine wood burning is still prevalent in the state in ward No 1 of Garan Panchyat of tehsil Kalakot in Rajouri District as the village sans electricity and potable water connections since independence. Residents of the panchayat Mohd Hussain & Safzar Hussain said that the matter was taken up several times with the former and present concerned Ministers, MLAs , district and tehsil administrations but nobody care to mitigate the problems being faced by more than 60 families till today. Ghulam Hussain, JE power development department (PDD) while talking to some media persons said that the department has already sanctioned the required electric poles to feed the ward and soon the work to install these poles will be started. On the other hand Rajiv Ghai, AEE, PHE department said that the inhabitants will be provided the supply of pure drinking water soon and for that gravity scheme will soon be made functional. He added that the PHE department has not provided any source of safe drinking water and for that they use to go few kilometers to fetch drinking water from natural sources which a time wasting process. These villagers were not sure that for few more years they will not get the facilities of these basic amenities as promised by the officials of the PDD and PHE because they have become habitual to listen such hollow promises in the past also. |
