Court grants bail to Cong leader, aggrieved seek return of land

JAMMU, Jan 15: In a major latest development in Kishtwar land scam, District Congress President namely Pardeep Singh Parihar, who is alleged to be the main accused, got interim bail from court.
However, other accused including revenue officials also applied for the bail to court.
Meanwhile, the aggrieved persons namely Dilbagh Singh and Lal Chand held press conference in Jammu and put revenue officials responsible for changing the nomenclature of land allegedly under the influence of Congress president Pardeep Singh Parihar. They have alleged that they are being deprived of their due share.
They also prayed before court to quash the bail plea of alleged accused for smooth investigation of complaint. They also appealed government to restore back their land which has been transferred by revenue officials.
Pertinently, five beneficiaries' alongwith revenue officials were booked by Vigilance for converting title of state land.
The accused have been identified as Mohammad Iqbal Kitchloo, Patwari, one Tehsildar now dead and beneficiaries included Pardeep Singh, Deevan Chand, Kuljeet Singh and others. They have been booked under FIR NO 3/2014.
Vigilance during probe came to know that the title of 100 kanal land was changed from Shamlaat to agricultural land and later to give undue benefit to a few, revenue officials included their names on revenue record . It was also come to know by the Vigilance that the mutation was also done wrongly.
Conversion of land came to fore when GREF submitted its proposal for construction of road FROM Kishtwar to Sinthal which was to pass on the same piece of land and accordingly government asked the revenue authorities of Kishtwar to compensate those whose land fall under the road site as submitted by the BRO.
It is also stated that the proposal of Rs 150 Crore was being prepared to distribute the same to the beneficiaries as compensation. During investigation Vigilance also came to know that the date of birth of one of the beneficiaries namely Kuljeet Singh was wrongly mentioned in revenue record.
