| BJP MLAs taken back into party fold on 'performance' rider | | Leadership to 'exploit' their influence for LS polls | | early times report Jammu, Jan 15: BJP leadership on Tuesday stated that decision to revoke suspension of five MLAs has been taken after they conveyed to national president of the party Rajnath Singh that they have 'unconditional' desire to work for the party as per the party's 'priorities' and 'directives'. This is, however, contrary to what is the inside story behind taking the expelled legislators back into the party fold. Sources within the party said that it is not the desire of the MLAs to work 'uncontionally' that has worked magically for their return into the party. Instead of MLAs having expressed their so called 'desire' it is actually a trap laid by the party leadership to 'use' them and their political resources for forthcoming Parliamentary elections. The leadership while giving this move a final nod has taken them on board again against certain conditions, sources said adding that their full support and help for the LS polls is the main condition that has been set by the central leadership for the five MLAs. They have been asked to utilize their strength in the constituencies they represent in favour of BJP candidates who would be given mandate for the two Jammu seats, sources said. Their efforts and potential would be assessed and judged and it is their performance in respective areas in terms of giving their best to BJP candidates in LS polls that would become basis for their 'future' in the party, sources further said adding that if that doesn't work or match the level of expectations BJP leadership might be having, the survival of these legislators may become difficult. While they have been allured also on the indication that they would be repeated as candidates for the Assembly constituencies, but that again depends on how and what efforts they put in helping the party in LS polls. Sources said the performance 'rider' put forth by the party leadership is taking these legislators only to safeguard and consolidate its own interests for LS polls which are going to witness an interesting contest this time on account of Modi factor too. The timing of revocation of so called suspension also makes it amply clear that party leadership only wants to 'use' the legislators and their influence in respective areas much to party's gains at the hustings and that there is nothing like what leadership has sought to give an impression that it were the MLAs who were too eager to desperate to come back to party. There may be some truth in these MLAs also wishing to be a part of the party rather than shifting to some other party, but their ambition of seeking mandate and tickets again during the Assembly polls looks a little far fetched scene as the party has already 'readied' its second line for the same, some of whom are strong contenders for the constituencies these MLAs represent and have since started working in these areas, sources said. In the backdrop of this inside story in revocation move, it only appears that party would use and later dump them in some line of functionary down the hierarchy.
