| Munshi facing grave charges, Govt mulling another extension | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 19: Despite claiming of making serious efforts to cleanse the system of corrupt and inefficient officers, state government is mulling the option of giving another extension to Managing Director (MD) of State Handloom Corporation (SHC) Munshi Muzaffar Hussain. He retired in April, 2013 as Director Handicrafts. He was also then holding the charge of Director Handloom. He retired and within a day, was subsequently re-engaged and rehabilitated in the corporation as its Managing Director. This is despite the fact that he has been facing serious case of alleged nepotism and administrative wrong. According to sources, Munshi is facing the charge of having violated all norms and promoted some of his close associates to top posts in the corporation. Sources said that Munshi promoted his cousin, Afaq Hussain from Field Assistant to Assistant Manager on November 28, 2011. He is now working as In-Charge Marketing and In-charge Inventory, besides illegally functioning as Deputy General Manager. Similarly, Tanveer Hussain has been promoted as Assistant Manager. Syed Showkat Hussain has also been promoted as Assistant Manager alongwith Ghulam Nabi Bhat. Sources further said that Afroza has been promoted as Assistant Manager. They added that one of the corporation's prestigious income earning branch at Bangalore is managed by two officials Iqbal Joo, Assistant Salesman and Rafiq Ahmad Dar, Assistant Manager. The branch can have the strength of another eight officials, but thanks to the privileges of the Managing Director, these two officials are illegally looking after the entire showroom. Sources said that Bashir Ahmad, Assistant Manager is unofficially heading another high earning branch at Garri Hart Kolkata, while as two senior Managers there have been made subservient to him. Abid Hussain Jan, Senior Assistant is posted as Branch Head Goa and Mohammad Maqbool, who has been posted as Technician in a prestigious showroom. On being asked, officials said that 24 employees have been promoted to the level of Assistant Managers purely on the basis of their seniority and eligibility. They added that Board of Directors is a competent authority and it is they who have promoted these 24 employees. |
