Jammu, Feb 6 : Demanding Sub-Division (SD) status for Jandrah village, the ongoing strike entered fourth day today whereas traffic on the Mansar-Udhampur Dhar Road remained suspended for more than two hours, as per the release. Carrying black flags, protestors from Jandrah, Dhan, Korga, Bhatyari, Kanyala, Nagola and several other Panchayats also blocked Kishenpur-Domail road for three hours at Jandrah and raised anti-coalition government slogans. The agitation launched by the people of Jandrah and adjoining villages entered fourth consecutive day today. The agitating people accused the ruling coalition of subjecting them to great discrimination by not fulfilling their long pending demand for Tehsil status to Jandrah. "We will not tolerate the gross discrimination meted out to our areas by the ruling political class and we will intensify our agitation till the government accepts our demand for Sub-Divisional status to Jandrah as it has granted Tehsil status to Nagrota and Dansal areas of Nagrota assembly segment," protestors said. They said their areas were ignored by the Cabinet Sub-Committee while recommending new administrative new units to the state cabinet. "The recommendations made by Cabinet Sub-Committee were politically motivated and no criteria were adopted while announcing new administrative units," the protestors said. They said the government did not take into account the problems being faced by a large population of dozens of Panchayats falling under the erstwhile block Dansal. |
