Jammu, Feb 6: Academics who cares especially when the authorities appeasing the politicians just to satisfy their personal interests and the same became evident when students of Government High School Gambhir Brahmana Rajouri were surprised when they were forced to sit in open ground in rains as a programme of Minister of State for Health (I/C) Shabir Ahmed Khan was held when school was in progress. As per some eye witnesses from Rajouri, a programme was organised in Gambhir Brahmna of Rajouri District to celebrate the announcement of opening of a CD block in Panjgrian / Gambhir in which local MLA and Minister of State (MoS) Health Shabir Ahmed Khan was the chief guest. "And finding no suitable place to welcome the chief guest amid hostile weather, the local politicians and authorities preferred to appease the minister but at the cost of the studies of students of the above mentioned school, an eyewitness lamented. Preferring anonymity to ire of minister and his sympathizers, eyewitness from Gambhir Brahmna told over phone that programme was held in the building of Government High School Gambhir Brahmna forcing studenst to sit in make shift/tented accommodation. Locals resented the occasion by saying the students who have braved the rains and hostile weather and have come from far flung areas including Gambhir Brahmna , Sharma Basti , Iran Khanetar, Patrara , Thul Phara , Tasyala , Khankhri , Katarmal and adjoining localities to their surprise were forced have an unofficial schedule of their academics in tented accommodation. They said, "Due to the function of MoS Health Shabir Ahmed Khan firstly the students of schools especially from the lower classes were forced by the school management to sit in the open ground despite rainfall and later school was called off and most of the classes were closed declaring unofficial holiday while students from some higher classes were compelled to study in sonorous sound system that were installed within the school premises.
A student of same school said, "The authorities and school management should have declared a holiday if such an arrangement was likely to be organized within school premises. I wonder why school management continued some classes as students due to sound system were not in position get what their teachers were teaching.' When contacted Chief Education Officer Rajouri, Choudhary Lal Hussain briefly said he will inquire the matter. He told Early Times that he has not issued any permission for holding any political programme within the premises of High School Gambhir Brahmna and that he will look into the matter.
