Dy CM chairs education review meeting, Directs for achieving set targets

Jammu, Feb 6 : Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand today chaired a high level meeting to review progress of the education department with regard to targets already set for the current year. The meeting took a detailed review of overall functioning of the department and scheme-wise and activity-wise progress of different programs under implementation.
Exhorting upon the officers to work with zeal and dedication, the Deputy Chief Minister said prestigious flagship programmes of SSA and RMSA have been a boon for the education sector and to give fillip to education sector in the state all the targets set should be achieved within the stipulated time frame. He said to further the cause of education in the state new schools have been opened besides up grading status of already running schools under these schemes.
The meeting was attended by Secretary, School Education, Hirdesh Kumar Director, School Education Jammu T.K. Sharma, Director, SSA S.C. Sawhney, Director RMSA S.A. Leharwal, CEO, ZEOs, and other officers of the department. During the meeting Tara Chand also reviewed the progress of plan formulation for 5 flagships schemes of RMSA, SSA, mid day meal, teachers' education and Sakshar Bharat Mission. The plan appraisal for these flagship programs is done by the Government of India. Taking review of financial and physical achievements in the department, Tara Chand called upon the concerned authorities to keep their activities at maximum so that the performance of the department could be improved to a larger extent.
Directions were issued to the zonal officers to conduct detailed inspection of schools and report on requirements with respect to boundary wall, repairs, additional rooms, drinking water facilities and wash rooms for students. Stressing on time bound completion of civil works in different schools, the Deputy Chief Minister said the works should be expedited and concerned CEO should personally monitor the pace and report delays if any to the concerned authorities.
