Jammu, Feb 6: The tall claims of better health services in state fall flat when a woman patient was allegedly got HIV + during blood transfusion a day before her operation at Super Specialty Hospital on Thursday. Her relatives have alleged she was transfused infected blood at the hospital during her treatment. Agitated relatives of the victim alleged that she was healthy and not infected some days ago when she was undergoing medical treatment at SMGS Hospital Jammu. "We really were shocked and surprised when the doctors declared patient (name withheld) HIV positive just a day before her operation at Super Specialty Hospital on Thursday, they lamented. Narrating their woeful tale, one of her relative, said, "Some days ago she was operated at SMGS hospital and was later referred for operation after doctors suspected some complicacy." "The victim underwent a medical treatment at SMGS Hospital Jammu in the month of November last year after she developed some pain in her uterus and operated accordingly after proper diagnostic and clinical tests, her relatives said, adding, "during her treatment routine and ALISA tests were conducted and this was not indicated then i.e. she was decaled HIV negative." "At Super Specialty hospital, she was transfused with atleast 10 bottles of blood supplied from the blood bank of GMC & Hospital, one of close relative of the patient said and added, " she was admitted in Urology ward where the victim was allegedly transfused infected blood spoiling her future life." However, repeated attempts to contact with the HoD Blood Bank at GMC & Hospital to get his comment over the issue went in vain. |
