DLRSS organizes Farmer-Scientist interaction

Jammu, Feb 6: Dry Land Research Sub Station (DLRSS), Rakh Dhiansar organized a Farmer-Scientist interaction meeting today at NICRA adopted village Khaner of block Purmundal of district Samba. In this meeting, about 20 farmers from the villages of Khaner and Badi Khad interacted with scientists from DLRSS, Rakh Dhiansar, SKUAST-J. Dr. Mahender Singh, Sr. Scientist and incharge Station discussed about various agronomical practices for conserving moisture in the dry land areas. He further stressed the farmers to follow the package and practices recommended for the zone by SKUAST-J. Underlying the importance of weed management in crop production, Dr. Jai Kumar Kapoor (Agronomist) discussed about the various weed management practices in rabi crops and also focused on replacing the local seeds with improved varieties of seeds along with the diversified farming to enhance their livelihood.
