KATHUA, Feb 6: On the directions of the District Development Commissioner Kathua, Jitendra Kumar Singh, a team of the legal Metrology department Kathua headed by the Assistant Controller Legal Metrology Kathua, Ajay Verma and comprising of the Inspector Legal Metrology Kathua, Vicky Sharma and Inspector Legal Metrology Dayala chack Devi Lakhanpuria conducted intensive checking of various business establishment especially Karayna shops, Bakery Shops, Hardware store, Confectionary shops Provisional Store at Kathua, Lakhanpur, Janglote Morh, Korepunnu, Ramkot, Daylachack and adjoining Areas in the month of January 2014.
About 16 traders were booked for violation of various provisions of J&K Weights and Measures Enforcement Act 1997.and Package Commodities Rules and 18 challans were compounded and a penalty of Rs 28000.00 was imposed on the erring traders.
The Department also booked one Biscuit Company for violation of various provision of J&K Weights and Measures Enforcement Act 1997 and Package Commodities Rules. After going through the numbers of correspondence with the company representative the fault was admitted by the Company and on the assurance of the company to rectify the defective Package in future, the cases was compounded by the Assistant Controller Legal Metrology Kathua for Rs 10000. |
