Jammu, Feb 7: Ignorant about the real name of only stadium in Jammu Province, the highest sports body in Jammu and Kashmir, the State Sports Council calls the sports hub as MAM Stadium in place of MA (Moulana Azad) Stadium, here.
The negligence on part of the Sports Council, which otherwise takes care of sports in the state, crossed all limits when the autonomous sports body engraved the two foundation stones with MAM Stadium instead of actual name of MA Stadium that too within the complex.
However, the mistake on part of the Sports Council was highlighted by a staff member well before the formal opening of two sports facilities, but the Executive Engineer with the organization, responsible for the arrangements, termed the `blunder' a minor mistake saying, "It hardly matters whether to right MAM or MA Stadium".
Since the Council had engraved the name of the place on the foundation stones, the learned State Information Department too mentioned MAM Stadium in its story forwarded regarding inauguration function to the newspapers.
Furthermore, poor in sports vocabulary, the higher-ups of Sports Council also engraved the name of Basketball game as Basket-Ball on the same foundation stone. |
