| Creation of new administrative units backfires on Coalition | | Dissatisfaction, unrest brews across regions | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 7: The State Government decision to create more administrative units has caused dissatisfaction and created unrest among the people of the two regions. While people in most areas in Kashmir valley are expressing their resentment for not giving due consideration to their aspirations, resentment is also brewing in various areas of Jammu region too where the people continue to protest for last one week alleging total discrimination to their areas in creation of new administrative units. The political analysts in the State while commenting on creation of new administrative units by coalition Government said that this is nothing but a political gimmick by alliance partners eying the coming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. Instead of mitigating the problems of the people the Government opened a Pandora's box with one region up in arms against the other, they added. They said that had the Government been sincere in sanctioning the new administrative units in the State it should have taken the decision in the first year of formation of the Government in 2009 so that the administrative units created then would have become functional by this time. By announcing the creation of new administrative units at the fag end of six years term of the Government when the Lok Sabha elections are around the corner is nothing but a political gimmick and vote bank politics aimed at befooling and cheating the innocent masses of the State, they added. They said that in 1987 the then coalition Government as well as Union Government for their vested political interests took such unpopular decisions that put the Kashmir valley on fire and the seeds of unrest sown due to these policies are so deep rooted that people are still feeling their pain. The creation of administrative units have resulted into such an unrest that even the leaders of ruling alliance have also extended support to protestors in Valley. NC Rajya Sabha member Ratanpuri also demanded creation of more administrative units in Valley. People’s Conference leader Mir Ghulam Rasool has also joined the people's voice saying that some areas in Ganderbal like Barsoo, etc have been ignored and this has led to lot of public unrest. Mir while holding the Government's wrong policies responsible for the same said that it is the Government which is trying to create a wedge among the people of three regions by such policies and same policies were adopted by the same alliance in 1987 which were responsible for present turmoil in the State. Same were the views of PDP leader from South Kashmir AR Rather who said that other political parties were not taken into confidence while creation of new administrative units. In Jammu region people in Jindrah area are protesting for last week demanding Sub Division status while in Budhal the fast of people also continue alleging discrimination with the area in creation of new administrative units. Budhal and Jindrah are not the only areas in Jammu region but there are other localities which have been neglected in grant of administrative units while the constituencies represented by coalition Ministers or MLAs were given much benefit is the general feeling among the masses. |
