2/7/2014 10:44:06 PM
Early Times Report

Vijaypur, Feb 7 : Former Minister and senior Congress leader Manjit Singh today appealed for the enhancement of compensation for the flood affected people of the border villages from Rs 300 to Rs 2000 per kanal.
Raising voice in support of the farming community, former minister Manjit Singh in his press statement issued here today said that the Government has offered meager compensation of Rs 300 per kanal which is insufficient for the victim farmers whose standing crops were damaged due to flood in Devak and Basanter rivers.
He said that the people of the affected area have suffered a lot but the Government offered them very less amount and it should be enhanced to Rs 2000 per kanal. He further added the Government should not force people to come on the road against the decision as it would not be good for them.
He said that the Government should re-think and increase to compensation amount, while informing that the famers have decided not to accept the compensation.
