Early Times Report

Reasi, Feb 13: PDP candidate for Udhampur-Kathua Lok Sabha seat Arshad Malik today demanded tehsil status for Baddar area of Reasi assembly segment.
Addressing public meeting at Baddar of Reasi assembly segment, Malik said regretted many deserving areas have been deliberately ignored by the State Government in creating new administrative units.
Supporting the demand, who have been agitating for the demand of tehsil status, Malik said that this area is a fit case for granting tehsil. He said that hilly areas were neglected in granting new administrative units. Coming down heavily on state government for its failure to do justice with the deserving areas, Malik said that people in every nock and corner of the State were protesting against wrong decision of the State Government. He regretted that instead of coming to the expectations of the people, this regime has instigated people of one region against other.
Malik said that Central sponsored schemes, which have been especially formulated for the development of the backward areas, have implemented only on papers in Jammu and Kashmir. "Either these schemes have been politicized or implemented only on papers", he said and added that backwardness of Reasi segment was a clear indication of failure of such schemes.
He further said that people of Reasi segment have been living in dark-age because huge chunk of this segment is without power infrastructure. He regretted that people are not getting power even for a couple of hours in whole day.
Malik said that except promises this regime has done nothing to ameliorate lot of the people. He said that State has plunged into unprecedented crises due to failure of the government to address problems of the common masses. He mentioned that on the one hand people have been facing shortage of ration while on the other hand government failed to improve health and education sector in the remote areas.
Residents of all regions of the state have been struggling to get basic amenities like drinking water, power and ration but the government seems to be non serious in solving these basic problems.
Exhorting the party workers to expose mis-deeds of this regime, Malik regretted that National Conference has not learnt any lessons from its past mistake. He pointed out that promises made by the National Conference during the assembly elections remained only on papers. "Instead of fulfilling the commitment which the NC had made with the people during assembly elections, this government has been deceiving the people by making false statements", he said.
