| Sunetar people deman rba status not modal Village | | | Early Times Report
Ramnagar, Feb.13: General people from Sunetar were on roads against declaration of Sunetar village in Ramnagar block as a 'Modal Village'. A protest meeting was organised outside High School Sunetar which was joined by students of the school. Pertinent to mention that Sunetar had been declared and inaugurated as a 'modal village' by local M.L.A. The placards held by protestors read, 'Modal nahin RBA chahiye' 'Gundagardi nahin chalegi.'Under modal village scheme, an amount of Rs. one crore is spent out of which three buildings, one CFC, one Community Hall, Shopping Complex, Recreation Park' are built. And rest of amount is spent on small developmental activities. The protestors were apprehensive of the standing guideline whereby a 'Modal Village' cannot be enlisted under RBA category. Rather an RBA category village which has been declared as 'modal village' can lose its RBA status. Whereas village Marta which is nearer to Ramnagar and has a higher Secondary school, a pucca road and other amenities, is a village under RBA categroy but Sunetar where road is very dilapidated, no Higher Secondary School and lesser developmental parameters does not enjoy RBA status. The protestors feared that their chances of being declared as a 'RBA category' village shall be scuttled if it is made a 'modal village'. They also cited example of village Kathil Ganjoo which is a modal village and not an RBA village. Whereas, adjoining village, Patyari, has recently been declared as under RBA category. |
