Upper Durang is a remote area with about eighty hutments of under privileged castes who live in extreme poverty. SPT camps cater to population of all remote villages of adjoining hills where some people tracks long distances to reach camp site. This was SPT's seventh camp in area. This camp also had services of seven specialists like in the past for the benefit of this remote area. Six hundred and thirty two patients took advantage of this opportunity.
The team of specialists and staff included Dr. Amit and Dr. Avitesh (Eye) from GMC, Dr. Paramjeet Singh, Dr. Umar, Dr. Surjeet, Dr. Tahir (interns) and Hygenist Ajit from IGGDC, Dr. Lal Mohinder (ENT), Dr. Romy Shama(Gynae), Dr. V S Jamwal (Physician) from CMO Kathua, Dr. Prerna and Dr. Deepak (Phar) from Director ISM . Thirteen cases of cataract were identified for operations which are being organized on 19th Feb at GMC and Dr Ashok K Sharma has kindly consented to conduct the operations. SPT in addition to facilitating various formalities at GMC, organizes, in hospital and post-operative care like lenses, injections, dark glasses/medicines etc. for all eye patients since most of patients are very poor and come from remote villages. ISM has now become a regular feature of our camps and we find a good response to Ayurveda in camps and two hundred and fifteen patients took advantage of this facility.
