Fak area in CM's constituency also victim of official neglect

SRINAGAR, Feb 13: After Sherpathri , the inhabitants of 28 villages of Fak area in Central Kashmir district of Ganderbal are constantly facing injustice at the hands of the Government.Being part of Ganderbal Assembly segment represented by none other than the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah in the State Assembly, the area not only sans development but has also been ignored in the recently created new administrative units. The area with a population of 50,000 souls with 28,000 voters sans basic facilities of life. The people throughout have voted NC since 1977 elections but the party never thought of its development and ignored it every time, said Haji Mohammed Subhan chairman, Fallah Behbood Committee Fak. He said in recently created administrative units too though people expected a fair deal but the sub-committee report ignored it. He said Tulmulla which is only three kilometers from tehsil headquarters of Ganderbal has been given the status of tehsil but the Fak has been totally ignored.. He said there is no higher secondary school in this area nor has been it given the block or Niabat in newly created administrative units. There is no health centre in the area and after 10 class the students have to go Ganderbal or Hawal for higher education, he said, adding there is no one in the Government to hear the woes of the people of the area.Mohammed Jamal Bhat a social activist from the area said the area sans total development and the condition of roads is worst. The people face power problem in this entire belt and the Government has failed to lay electric poles in various villages of this area. Lambasting the government he said 229 kanals of land were acquired by the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agriculture Science and Technology (SKUAST), Kashmir in 2005 for the construction of its fisheries faculty on the agreement with the people that they will be absorbed on non gazetted posts in the faculty. But this promise was not kept despite the fact that people did not demand compensation for the land, he added. He said though the people of the area took up the issue with concerned authorities a number of times but to no avail. The people of the area are up in arms against the Government. Haji Kamal Bhat another social activist of the area said that people in this entire belt were NC supporters but they ditched us and did not consider our loyalty to the Party. Meanwhile, Peoples Conference (PC) leader and patron Peoples Welfare Society Ganderbal Mir Ghulam Rasool Butwani has demanded that the area be given justice and their problems be settled on war footing basis. Mir demanded that the people be given class fourth jobs in SKUAST fisheries faculty as they have donated to two departments without any compensation. Besides SKUAST they donated over 150 kanals of land to PDD for construction of Receiving Station and did not take any compensation for the same. He warned that in case the Government failed to settle the genuine demands of the people immediately the PC will launch a mass movement in the area.
