Pertinently, in new modus operandi, the burglars now are indulged in 'life threatening thefts' which have given fear psychosis to Jammuites as on January 18, this year some robbers robbed a woman of gold ornaments and cash by taking her on gunpoint at Talab Tillo area. The incident occurred when victim, wife of Dr Sunil Mahajan, resident of 148, Garden Avenue Talab Tillo was stopped near her house and the gunmen snatched her purse. The accused also pulled out the cash from her purse and fled away.
FIR 9/14 under section 458, 384, 506 CrPC and 3/25 Arms Act has been registered at Nowabad Police Station. Similarly, in another robbery which was executed on gun point in the house of SS Lehar, Supreme Court advocate, a prominent Urdu writer and poet on February 8, gold ornaments worn by his wife and Rs two lakh in cash was looted at his Maheshpura residence.
