Jammu, Feb16; Jammu and Kashmir government today said that under the procedure for return of persons (prospective returnees) formulated in November, 201, however, 268 individuals along with their families have returned via Nepal during past three years up to January 2014. In written reply to NPP legislator, Harshdev Singh, chief minister, Omar Abdullah said the state government has notified a policy and procedure for return of persons in November, 2010 who belong to J&K, had crossed over to PoK/PaK for arms training, but have given up violence due to change of their heart and are willing to return to the state to join the mainstream and contribute in state and nation building. He said under this policy JCP Wagah, Attari, Salamabad, Chikan-da-bagh crossings on LoC or the Indira Ghandhi International airport, New Delhi have been identified as routes for return of these individuals. However, none of the individuals have return to the state via above said approved routes. Chief Minister further said around 4,132 ultras were still operating in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK). "Reportedly, there are approximately 4,132 ultras still (operating) in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Pakistan", Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said. Abdullah, however, said that no details of exact number of ultras in PoK and Pakistan were readily available. He, said state government has notified the policy and procedure in November 2010 for return of those belonged to J&K, who had crossed over to PoK, Pakistan for training but have given up violence due to change of hearts. "They are willing to return to the state to join mainstream and contribute to the state and nation buildings," he said. |
